Good News

As most people who read can see, I don't exactly list my whole life in my blog. My postings depend of what I want people to know and if I really feel like typing what I've said to people so many times. Well, this entry has been news for a week, but I'm only now typing it. Last week, I was offered the opportunity for a promotion at work. Nothing definate as of now, but it is currently looking good. I have to keep details limited. All I can say is it's an opportunity to finally use my MBA degree and get paid what I'm worth. We'll see what happens. More details will follow in the upcoming weeks. My ship may have finally come in.

Another Year Without Nathan's

Every year since I first did the Ben's Matzah ball eating contest, I have been dying to see how many Nathan's Hot Dogs I can eat. The problem I've had is every year without fail I've always had something going on the day of the qualifier. Damn the luck. This year I actually signed up early with nothing planned that day. Then it happened. Not one thing but two things planned in addition to the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest. The contest starts at 5PM at the LI Ducks Stadium (Citibank Park), but I'll either be in Floral Park at Dan's Grad Party or at the Brooklyn Cyclones Stadium (Citibank Park). This time it was my choice to not do the contest. Oh well, why break the streak? There's always next year. Hoffman to beat the Asian Eating Machine in 2006!

Weekend Recap

So, just to show that I am getting out and enjoying, let's recap the weekend starting w/ my day off on Friday...

Friday - Fun in the sun at the beach and party of Jonathan's

Lessons learned: Never take a drunken cab right to Penn if the train doesn't come for 2 hours and, if you go with someone to the beach, make sure to bring homemade food and a blanket because the food is lousy and a towel just ain't enough for two.

Saturday - Slept late after getting home at 7 AM and went to Matt's Grad Party.

Lessons learned: Sleep is good and parties are better

Sunday - Father's Day and 5K Race

Lessons learned: Saw someone I knew in HS at the 5K. She's now teaching and coaching a team. I need to start getting busy with my life. Life at Henry Schein just ain't cutting it. Dad appreciated the Dad's Day gifts, but I think he enjoyed Mom and I home the best.

And now starts a new week. I sure hate my job. Maybe something else will pan out. Here's to a new week. Woo.

The Essence of Mike

Tonight, on Six Feet Under, something was said about Rico that seems to have some relevence to me. The quick background story is Rico was married to Vanessa, but two seasons ago cheated on her once but lied to Vanessa about it. This lead to the separation and soon divorce. In the first episode of the final season that aired tonight, Rico and Vanessa are talking about things and Vanessa says to Rico "You need to be with someone. Me, I am ok alone, but you work better with someone." That's when it hit me. It's not that I'm dying to be in a relationship or anything of that nature. I'm actually happiest alone because it allows me to be me and not have to work at pleasing anyone. But the reality is, I think I work better overall with someone. I'm a "better" person, I guess. This is what I think, but what intelligence can be found at 1:00 AM after the 3 hours of sleep I got last night.

COMING SOON

Since everyone who knows me knows that I cave under the pressure sometimes and start to follow the pop trends, I thought I'd make this announcement. Starting next week, I'll start posting my mini IPOD top 25. The list always changes because the IPOD is set to shuffle and everytime I add a new block of music by a band I reupload everything. We'll just have to see where this goes and how often I do.
